The Cure…. What can I say? Where do I start?
2016 May The Cure started the first North American tour in many years, after only performing a few festivals throughout the years like Coachella. Las Vegas was on this special 26 tour date list and they came the stunning Chelsea Ballroom inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino. With a sold out show the room was packed wall to wall as the Cure took the stage. Opening up with Plainsong off their 1989 album Disintegration. Followed by an almost three hour set with a mix of amazing classics, b sides and a couple new songs for our pleasure. It was hard not to dance and sing a long to all these classic and amazing hits they have released through the years.
With a simple stage set up of some LED lighting the focus was on the band, the music and the feeling in the air. When Robert Smith took the stage at the opening for the first few minutes, he walked the stage gazing into the audience almost as an appreciation for the fans coming to celebrate them. He looked so happy and just honored and humbled to be on that stage. The intro to Plainsong almost just had hi up there in disbelief almost a reflection of their career and to this day to have such an impact on so many in attendance.
Their set included a mix of 32 tracks with multiple encores, that kept the fans wanting more! Check one off for the bucket list.
